frequently asked questions
-
What is integrative somatic trauma therapy coaching at Kaia Evolutions?Integrative somatic trauma therapy coaching at Kaia Evolutions is a holistic approach that blends body-based (somatic) practices with trauma-informed coaching. It supports clients in reconnecting with their bodies, releasing stored trauma, and cultivating safety, regulation, and resilience.
-
How is somatic trauma coaching different from traditional therapy? While traditional talk therapy often focuses on cognitive and emotional processing, somatic trauma coaching includes the body as a key part of healing. At Kaia Evolutions, we do not diagnose or treat mental health disorders; instead, we support your nervous system, inner awareness, and self-regulation through embodied practices.
-
Do I need to have a specific trauma to benefit from this work? Not at all. Trauma is any experience that overwhelms your capacity to cope and impacts your sense of safety or connection. Many people benefit from this work even if they don’t identify with a specific traumatic event. Another way of defining trauma is an experience, sensation or event that was too much, too fast, too soon.
-
What is the typical duration of working with Kaia Evolutions? The duration varies! Some clients find a few months of support helpful, while others choose to work together for a year or more. We can discuss your goals and design a timeline that feels supportive for you. Session packages are recommended (vs single sessions) due to the nature of this work and the focus on honoring the process of unfolding over time.
-
Are sessions only available virtually? No, while most sessions are currently held online for flexibility and comfort, Kaia Evolutions also offers limited in-person 1-on-1 coaching sessions in NYC (additional cost for rental space) and pop-up group offerings. We are available for both virtual and in-person events, panels, workshops, and guest speaking engagements.
-
Who is this work for? This work is for those seeking a body-centered, empowering, and compassionate approach to healing. Somatic therapy is a great approach for adults who feel stuck, disconnected, anxious, overwhelmed, or who have a history of trauma (including developmental, relational, or complex trauma).
-
What can I expect in a session?Sessions are co-created and may include gentle movement, breathwork, guided somatic practices, nervous system education, reflective inquiry, and personalized coaching. The pace is always led by your needs and capacity.
-
Is this coaching safe if I have a history of trauma or mental health challenges?Yes. Sessions are trauma-informed and emphasize safety, choice, and titration (going slowly and gently). If you’re currently in crisis or need clinical mental health support, I recommend working with a licensed therapist alongside or before coaching.
-
Can I combine 1-on-1 coaching with group workshops?Absolutely. Many clients find that group workshops complement 1-on-1 work beautifully by offering community, shared language, and collective healing.
-
How do I get started with Kaia Evolutions? You can book a FREE 30-minute HOPEful Chat to explore whether this work feels like a good fit. We’ll talk about your needs, answer questions, and see how we can support you.
